Serrania Park in Woodland Hills, California

Located in the hills of Woodland Hills, Serrania Park is a quaint edifice in a rural locale. It is a small but well-kept dog park that will delight both you and your canine companion. The flora and fauna here are plentiful and there are numerous hiking trails in the area for those who want to get out and about while the dog is still sniffing around.

Although the park isn’t officially designated as a dog park, locals like to refer to it as the «de facto» dog park. The park is well suited for dogs of all sizes. The most notable feature is the off leash dog area, where dogs can roam free for the most part.

There are a few perks to this little park, including the obvious – a dog friendly environment – but what makes it noteworthy is its small and cleverly conceived hiking trails. One of these is the Serrania Ridge Trail. The name of the ridge is self-explanatory, but the trail takes some serious climbing. If you don’t have your heart set on the gimmicks, you can opt to stay on the main path to enjoy a scenic hike in the woods. The trail is marked by a colorful map, making it easy to find your way. There’s also a nice picnic table in the area, which is perfect for a family outing.

The serrania raffling a free lunch is no joke, but it’s not the only reason to visit. The park also boasts a slew of other perks, from a paved trail to a play structure, to restrooms and a decent-sized children’s play area. While the location is convenient, the facilities are not especially clean, and you may find yourself wishing for a clean bathroom in the middle of the night. The park is located in a largely residential area, so you won’t be the only one wandering around.

The park is a nice place to take a brisk walk with your canine companion, or just to sit back and relax in the sun. The large, grassy swatches are a refreshing change of pace from the city’s high-rise buildings, and the large picnic tables are a welcome sight. The aforementioned trail is a short stroll from the main parking lot, which is located 50 yards from the main entrance. Among the best things about Serrania Park is its proximity to the many excellent eateries in the area, and its easy access to the freeway. In addition, the park has an unusually large number of avian residents, which is a plus for birdwatchers.

The park does a good job of promoting healthy living. The park has a children’s playground, a slew of exercise trails, and a paved walking path with benches.
